Seminar in Creativity_101 emphasizes interdisciplinary
thinking across the arts, sciences and technologies.
This is the foundational seminar that stresses
creative intelligence and rigor are impelling forces to birth ideas
that live beyond a commonly (mis)understood definition of art as
generated by 'inspiration' only.
Your final projects in this seminar will express as
manifestations of research structures designed to
excavate meaning on an individualized level.
From past seminars, projects have included mediums such as
radio play, performance, dance, coloring book, sculpture,
music, poetry, painting, drawing, photography, installation art,
video game design and digital film (live-action and animation).
While there are no
limitations imposed on the platform each student chooses
to explore for her/his Seminar_101 project, there are coursework
structures dedicated to the revision and refinement of
self-generated ideas. The emphasis in this first level creativity
seminar is to push the creative process, and by association,
the participant, to understand what an idea 'is' and
how to 'have' one while simultaneously
committing acts of thinking in journal writing,
discussion, lecture, and reading.
Lastly, tenacity is a learned skill.
I am well equipped to teach you this.
